Amy Cheifetz is a singer and voice teacher in New York City. A soprano originally from California, 2008 marks her tenth year as a New Yorker. Amy has been performing in musical theater, opera, and professional choirs since the age of 10. She has earned degrees from the University of California, Irvine (B. Music) and the University of Washington (M. Music and D.M.A. abd.). She has studied voice with Cornelius Reid and Julian Patrick.
Her operatic roles include Musetta in La Boheme, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi, and Despina in Cosi fan tutte. Her musical theater roles include Hodel in Fiddler on the Roof, Winnie in No, No, Nanette, and (the role that started it all) Duffy in Annie. Internationally, Amy has given a solo recital of German and American art songs at the Salle Cortot in Paris, France.
She is currently on the voice faculty at the American Musical and Dramatic Academy and maintains a private voice studio as well. Her students perform on Broadway, in National and International Tours, and in Regional houses across the U.S. In the spring of 2008, she was a visiting professor of voice with Ball State University's Department of Theatre and Dance.
